ARCHETYPAL MOTIFS
I categorize some of my paintings as archetypal motifs. That is because they mirror patterns in our human condition -- recurrent themes in the manifestation of our collective consciousness. Here is "Dancer." Inspired by a photo of a dancer, it symbolizes to me the freedom of simplicity. This painting, called "Tibetan Sisters," expresses the sisterly bond. Here is a collage of photos of other paintings with archetypal motifs. Many of the paintings were inspired by photos of current events in the newspaper.
For example, events during the Chiapas revolution and scenes of life in Chiapas inspired two paintings. I feel that this, entitled, "Chiapas Woman," depicts the dignity and nobility of the poor. This, "Chiapas Family," the simple goodness of a rural family. |
